“That’s
good looking start! Ok. Start your story. Am eager too!” she continued to show
her interest.
“Story?
We need to create, think and finally write!” I smiled sheepishly.
“Hey…
No. We can write something that has happened to you. Got it?” she was
deliberate with her words and expected me to say something.
After
thinking for a while, I started “How about a college story? A first day, few
friends, a love, a second love, a more than friendship love and so on?”
“That
sounds interesting. Start from the first day!”
“Hmmm…
with one condition. No interruptions!” I said and she was keeping her finger
across her lips just like a kid – quite big kid!
I
started…

It was a
sleepless early morning. But it was quite common for me for the past few
months. The major reason is I have completely messed up in my higher secondary
exam results. I have Scored 182 in Tamil, 175 in English and 191 in Computer
Science. Later found that, those not so bad marks should have been in other
three subjects for a good Engineering College. Whatever, with a good friend and
his influential father got me a good answer for ‘what-to-do-next?’
Two days
before,
“Bala, come
to Velammal tomorrow by 9. Come with your dad!”
It was the
Principal of Velammal who called me and I have nothing to object so I said, “Ok
uncle. Sure!”
A day
before,
A simple
floor but well-polished and would certainly make everyone above 60 to skid a
bit except one! (I don’t want to speak about that one!) On the outset, the
college campus looked near equal to an earthquake affected building but was
quite good with the interior finishing. I was expecting a long queue but was
none except a mother and her daughter in the row waiting for the appointment. We
just took a seat beside them. In fact, I never find anything interesting around
including the girl but my mom did, she was straightaway into the talking
process with her counterpart there! (I wonder how only mothers do!)
Inside the
principal chamber,
“ECE
eduthuko pa... Staffsellarum experienced and good” (Take ECE, it has quite good
staffs and stuff now)
“Hmmm...
vendam uncle..CSE than!” (No, I opt for CSE)

Yeah. I was
completely excited about my new college and so this sleepless night was
something different. I had some known faces taking up this college from my old
school.
It was not
only the fresher’s welcoming party but also the inauguration of our college. So
it was quite grand! When everyone thought the function got over, and I
personally was dreaming of so many things Strangers- Best buddies soon after,
crushes may be paradox later and many in the row to add true essence to my
college life. The ONE whom I
mentioned earlier asked us to take our seats and he started! So far it was a
formal speech but now little colloquial in the native which he was far more
comfortable. He started narrating the organization’s rules which were quite
hilarious for student community but gave some confidence over the institution
for parents! I don’t like to comment on those rules but can say one rule which
literally made me laugh (alone :().
When he
said, “No boy should talk to a girl and also no girl should talk to a boy!” I
was quite spontaneous in saying, “that’s
– impossible”!
Minute of Madness!
